The new owner of this timber frame farm house found it had some shortcomings. These issues were quite obvious when it came to winter snow, entertaining guests, owning dogs and cooking; all things one can expect to find in a typical Vermont farmhouse! To accommodate these needs, we did our best to re-use and re-configure as much existing space as possible; the kitchen became office space, the closet became a mudroom and the pantry became a powder room. Even still, the homeowner wanted an open kitchen/living/dining room area upstairs which we tucked in above a two car garage downstairs. The style and scale of the addition blends seamlessly with the existing house and it looks like it was there all along.
